About Michael Wright

The Wright Group is headed up by Michael Wright who has over 35 years’ experience in the hospitality business.

Michael is a member of the Wright family from Howth. His family operates a thriving national and international fish and seafood business. In his youth, he worked closely with his father on all aspects of the family business. Independently, he has established himself over the past thirty-five years as a successful entrepreneur in the hospitality sector.

In the 1980’s he left his hometown of Dublin and worked in various bars in New York learning the hospitality trade and gathering ideas. Fast forward to 1995, he returned to Ireland and opened The Bloody Stream in Howth. He took a derelict train station and transformed it into one of the most successful seafood bars in the country. In 1998, he acquired a lonely roadside bar in the idyllic Strawberry Beds near Chapelizod and using his expertise transformed it into the bustling Gastropub, Wrights Anglers Rest. Despite its relatively remote location, The Anglers Rest is not only a highly sought-after wedding venue, it also enjoys bustling local and tourist trade from lunchtime till late at night.

Since then he has gone on to develop a number of other restaurants, pubs, food halls and convenience stores, including the global award-winning Marqette Foodhall in Dublin Airport.

Michael has always had a passion for hospitality and the promotion of it through local and international channels. He founded Howth Tourism in 2005 which is now funded and supported by Fingal County Council and other tourism bodies.

Michael is involved in “Sailing in to Wellness” which is a natural and healthy way to look after our physical and mental well-being.  http://www.sailingintowellness.ie

His disciplined approach and strong work ethic have attributed to his ongoing success and the growth and development of the Wright Group. Michael’s philosophy in life is ‘Dream it, Believe it, Achieve it.’
